Oklahoma Meets Napa: A 50th Birthday to Remember

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of driving a wonderful couple from the Oklahoma Panhandle who came to Napa Valley to celebrate the wife’s 50th birthday in style. It was their second time in wine country, after starting a family, and they wanted the full experience—scenery, stories, and of course, unforgettable wine.  

She really wanted to go on the gondola ride at Sterling Vineyards and they were looking for another great winery nearby.  On my recommendation, they chode two stunning wineries for the day: Castello di Amorosa and Sterling Vineyards.  

We kicked things off at Castello di Amorosa, a medieval-style castle that looks like something straight out of Tuscany. As we drove up the long, cypress-lined driveway, their jaws dropped. Inside, they explored the stone halls and sampled a range of beautifully crafted wines and nibblies in the tasting room. The birthday girl especially loved the robust Italian wines, just like the occasion deserved.  

Next, we headed to Sterling Vineyards, where the unique gondola ride up to the hilltop winery added a touch of adventure. The views from the top were breathtaking—Napa Valley rolling out in every direction under a perfect spring sky. We all agreed the setting was just about perfect for a birthday toast.  

The couple told me they never imagined Napa would feel so welcoming and relaxed. They loved how each winery had its own personality, and how wine tasting is more about the experience than just sipping from a glass.  

Driving guests like these reminds me why I love what I do—helping people celebrate milestones, discover new favorites, and create memories they’ll never forget.
